Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about cabinet installation, kitchen remodeling, trim work, scheduling, and estimates. Don't see your question? Call or text — a conversation is always welcome.
What areas of Kentucky do you serve?
We are based in Richmond and primarily serve Central Kentucky — including Lexington, Berea, Winchester, Nicholasville, Georgetown, Danville, Mount Sterling, and the surrounding counties. Projects outside Central Kentucky may be considered depending on the scope, schedule, and location.
Do you install cabinets purchased from another company?
Yes. We install cabinetry purchased from cabinet shops, local suppliers, and big-box stores. We are installers and woodworkers — we do not manufacture cabinet boxes — so the cabinets you choose get set level, plumb, and true regardless of where they came from.
Can you remove old cabinets before installing new ones?
Yes. Cabinet removal and preparation are part of what we do. We remove the existing cabinetry carefully, check the walls and floors for level, and prepare the space before the new installation begins.
Do you provide kitchen remodeling?
Yes — our kitchen remodeling work centers on the woodwork: cabinet removal, new cabinet installation, trim and finish carpentry, layout updates, and coordination with your other trades. Plumbing, electrical, and countertop work are handled by the trades licensed for them.
What finish carpentry services do you offer?
Baseboards, door and window casing, crown molding, decorative wood trim, kitchen finishing details, and remodeling finish work — measured carefully and installed with clean joints and smooth transitions.
Do you install trim throughout an entire house?
Yes. Full-house trim is one of our specialties, for new construction and renovations alike. We keep profiles, reveals, and finish quality consistent from the first room to the last.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Howard's Cabinet Installation operates as a licensed LLC and carries general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage.
How long does cabinet installation take?
It depends on the size and complexity of the project — a single vanity is very different from a full kitchen with crown and trim. We will give you an honest timeline when we discuss your estimate, and we would rather take the extra time to get the details right than rush a finish.
What should I do before cabinet installation begins?
Empty the old cabinets and clear the work areas and walkways before we arrive. If we are removing existing cabinetry, having the countertops and appliances plan settled ahead of time keeps everything on schedule. We will walk you through the specifics when we schedule the job.
Can you work with homeowners, builders and remodeling contractors?
Yes to all three. Many of our projects come directly from homeowners, and we regularly work alongside builders, remodelers, and designers who need a dependable cabinet installer and finish carpenter.
How can I request an estimate?
Call or text (859) 582-6519, email slgkhoward2@gmail.com, message us on Facebook, or use the estimate form on this website. Photos of the space and a short description of the work help us give you a useful answer quickly. Every estimate is free.
Do you accept projects outside Central Kentucky?
Qualifying projects throughout Kentucky are considered. Whether a project farther from Richmond makes sense depends on its scope, the schedule, and the location — call or text and we will talk it through honestly.
